Dinner Before Dark Happy Hour
Daily, 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Geraldine’s, fourth floor of Hotel Van Zandt.
Geraldine’s is a Modern Mexican fine dining table, layered with Southern influences and built on bold flavor, refined plating, and a commitment to craft. Dinner Before Dark is an intentional way to dine earlier at that same table, its own three-course prix fixe pulled from the kitchen’s repertoire, served earlier in the evening.
Whether you have an early flight, a show to catch, or just want dinner handled before the city gets loud, the early seating gives you room to fit it in. Grab a seat at the bar or a table by the window, order at your own pace, and let Geraldine’s kitchen do the rest.
The prix fixe is $39.99 per guest and runs three courses: your choice of soup or salad to start, your choice of a meat or vegetable entree to follow, and dessert to close things out. The specific dishes in each course rotate as the kitchen updates the menu, but the choice is yours.
A vegetarian path runs through the entree course with a vegetarian chile relleno filled with egg-battered poblano pepper, cheese blend, and tomato sauce. The Tlayuda, from Geraldine’s Greatest Hits comes with baby greens, avocado, nopales, purslane, radish, quesillo, and pickled onion in a smoked tomato vinaigrette. The Arroz Con Tres Leches dessert rounds out dinner, with the half-off beverage program still pouring alongside it.

Live Music Starts at 9 p.m.
Dinner Before Dark is the opening act of a longer night at Geraldine’s. Thursday through Sunday, once the last plates clear by 6:30 p.m., the room turns over to live music at 9 p.m., keeping the restaurant plugged into Austin’s live music scene long after the early tables turn over. Book Dinner Before Dark, stay for the set, or step out and circle back before the room fills in: either way, it is two nights out of one reservation.
